Change
The last 3 months have been a whirlwind. In March, I stood for 24 hours supporting pediatric cancer and raising money for the DanceBlue Clinic at the University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital. In April, I had a dream internship at Keeneland and was there around 60 hours. This May, I completed my degree in Finance and Accounting, graduated, moved out of my college house, and said goodbye to the only city I have ever lived in: sweet Lexington.
Let’s just say, I am not very good with change. And yet, change came anyway. Fast, overwhelming, and all at once.
In the middle of this season, I’ve been reminded of the one thing that hasn’t changed – God’s faithfulness. When everything familiar was packed away – my schedule, my routines – I found myself clinging to the only constant I have ever truly had: Him.
Hebrews 13:8 reminds us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Those words have never been more true. My life today is nothing like 3 weeks ago, and my life 3 months from now will be different from my life today. Jesus Christ is the same throughout it all. He is good. He is faithful. He is a provider. And so much more.
When I’ve felt anxiety about what’s next or nostalgia for what I’m leaving behind, I remember that I’m not walking into the unknown alone. The God who was with me in the classrooms and library study sessions, the God who gave me strength during DanceBlue, the God who opened the door at Keeneland – is the same God walking with me into this new chapter.
Change may be hard, but it’s also holy. It’s where God stretches our faith, reminds us of our dependence on Him, and shows us that He is enough – even when everything else shifts. So today, I’m learning not just to cope with change, but to praise God in it. Because if I trust the One who never changes, I can walk boldly into whatever comes next.
Where in your life are you resisting change? Do you think God might be inviting you to trust Him more deeply in that area?
