Desperate. Embarrassed. Isolated. Hopeless.
New Title
f we talked with the woman in Luke 8 before she touched the hem of Jesus’ garment, she might have used these words to describe herself.
If, however, we had talked to Jesus before that moment, he would have likely used another word to describe her: LOVED.
No matter how we view ourselves, no matter what others may think, no matter how good or bad we are: we are loved. God loves us.
And nothing can change that fact. Scripture explains:
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? … No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:35, 37-39)
Nothing can separate us from God. He still loves us even when we turn our back from Him. He loves us even as we reject Him. He loves us when we are self-righteous. He loves us.
The world may have scorned the woman in Luke 8; but God saw her. She was loved and seen.
Perhaps you are desperate for healing or for answers today; God sees you. Perhaps you are embarrassed by your sin; God accepts you. Maybe you are isolated; God is with you always. You may feel that there is no hope; Jesus is Hope in the flesh.
Today, know that you are loved. Reach out to Him in faith; even if you feel you only have enough faith to reach the hem of His garment. That is enough.
Dear child of God, you are LOVED.
